Operators and manufacturers of plant equipment as well as service providers are faced with the enormous requirements of providing technical services with special attention on maintenance. The tasks to be realised are related to all stages of the equipment and plant life cycle starting from the design through to the disposal. These tasks are becoming more complex and difficult to handle. Consequently there is a strong need for more efficient organisational, technical and information solutions. 

 The focal point Applied Information Technologies focuses on the IT support of the value creation chain (e.g. planning, construction, operation, maintenance processes). Support shall especially be realised through automation or partial automation of the interactions between partners within the value creation chain. This is based on process analysis, development of algorithms and finally their implementation through software modules. The emphasis is drawn to the support for processes related to maintenance.
