Wireless power transmission

The contactless inductive power transmission is an innovative technology which opens up new possibilities to supply mobile devices with electrical energy. The mobility of the devices increases when conductor rails, sliding contacts, trailing cables or slip rings are eliminated. The safety and reliability of the energy supply improve as a result of abandoning any mechanical contact and maintenance can be reduced. Moreover the limits for speed and acceleration of movable consumers can be increased. An additional advantage is the avoidance of contact resistance and spark formation, so that the technology for implementation in harsh environments is particularly useful.
The ifak institute creates scientific fundamentals and engineering methods to optimise the geometrical and electrical parameters for different industrial applications of contactless power transmission.
