Measurement Technology and Power Electronics

Prof Jörg Auge

The successful commercialization of products requires their high-qualitative and efficient manufacturing. Due to the product variety a manifold demand on accompanying measurement technology within the production process arises. Without an acquisition of actual values the definition of nominal values is useless and an automated production becomes impossible. The department is dedicated to this topic of demand-driven and application-compatible data acquisition. Moreover, acquisition of information involves its transfer and an adequate power supply. With regard to the multitude of applications often a wireless realisation is required. This concerns e.g. the supply of sensors and actuators on moving and rotating elements or the wireless charging of e-cars, which is currently an important research field. Within this power range and in contrast to the principle of an electric toothbrush optimised magnetic and power electronic components are essential.
