The aim of the project was to explore the application spectrum of contactless transmission of energy and information in the field of cable and stranding machines. In these applications, electrical energy, information and control signals must be transferred between the rotating and stationary parts of the respective machines and systems. Within the rotating part of the machine a variety of consumers are installed. They require an energy supply and exchange control and measurement signals with the higher-level control system. In previous solutions for these applications the energy transfer is realized by conventional slip rings with mechanical contacts.The data transfer requires a more complex solution in the form of special slip ring with silver or gold plated contact paths and special contact brushes.
