The project aimed to describe and to model the potential production of greenhouse gases like N2O or the potential release of nitrite from waste water treatment plants as result of control concepts aiming at energy minimisation. The developed model will be used to analyse and develop control concepts aiming on minimisation of effluent loads including GHG emissions and nitrite and to minimise energy consumption at the same time.
Major project results are a library of process controllers, a model library for the aeration system and systematic design guidelines for controllers to realise energy minimisation.
