The extraction of ground water is an important component for the agricultural development, above all in developing countries. Solar pumps are an interesting alternative, particularly for remote locations without an electricity supply network. In the research project different components for this compact system were developed. The complete system consists of an efficient pump in connection with an optimally customised energy supply based on photovoltaic and a modular intelligent control and monitoring technology. At ifak the power-electronic components, electronic devices for the communication and the visualisation as well as a sensor system to detect sand and air bubbles in the pump were designed and tested.
