The parish Hille is one of the greatest area communities of Germany and has a central wastewater treatment plant. Due to new land use plans and new construction areas, Hille wants a new wastewater treatment concept that reduce the high infrastructure costs of the great area. Because of the nearby recreation and water protection areas, including a sensitive moor, the cleaned wastewater has to accomplish high quality demands. In the project, Hille served as a model region for the development of a decentralized wastewater concept for approx. 200 residents. The target was to combine the wastewater treatment with nutrient and energy reclamation. On basis of the idea of sustainable economic management it should not be technically expensive. With help of design instruments, pilot plants, laboratory experiments and dynamic simulation all requirements were created to be able to realize a large-scale plant for Hille after finishing this project.
