Increasing digitalisation poses new challenges for vocational education and training. Simulations offer great potential to make complex processes easier to understand, to enable hands-on training and to prepare professionals for real-life scenarios. However, they are still rarely used in vocational education and training.
With the interSim - Digital Learning through Interactive Simulation project, ifak, together with three consortium partners, is developing an innovative training programme for the water industry over the next three years. Interactive computer simulations allow users to safely test operational procedures, malfunctions and exceptional events, while training sound decision-making skills.
A key focus of interSim is the exploration of AI language models, analysing how they can be used to tailor teaching and learning content to individual needs and improve the efficiency of knowledge transfer.
The interSim project is part of the InnoVET programme funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), which aims to improve the attractiveness, quality and equivalence of vocational education and training.
