The kick-off meeting of the interSim project took place on 13 February in Hennef. Representatives of the German Association for Water, Wastewater, and Waste (DWA), ifak, the Saxon Education Society for Environmental Protection and Chemical Professions Dresden mbH (SBG) and the University of Duisburg-Essen, Institute of Hydraulic Engineering and Water Resources Management and the Chair of Technology and Didactics of Technology met to lay the foundation for the successful implementation of the project.
Funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) as part of the InnoVET programme, the interSim - Digital Learning through Interactive Simulation project aims to develop digital teaching and learning solutions for vocational education in the water industry. Interactive simulations will enable professionals and trainees to gain a better understanding of complex processes, engage in hands-on training, and make informed decisions in different scenarios - from standard procedures to emergency situations.
A key focus will be the exploration of AI language models to analyse how they can be used to tailor teaching and learning content to individual needs and increase the efficiency of knowledge transfer.
The kick-off meeting was dedicated to aligning the project structure and work packages, setting key milestones, and planning the next steps. The partners contributed their expertise and discussed initial approaches to the development of interactive teaching and learning content.
With this successful kick-off, the intensive development phase will now begin, during which the project partners will work together to design innovative educational approaches for the water industry.
