On 15 September, Dr Manfred Schütze, Deputy Head of the ‘Water and Energy’ department of ifak, delivered an online seminar on the topic "Sewer network Real-Time Control (RTC) – an Often Overlooked Tool". In this seminar, which was well attended by several dozen participants from Germany and abroad, Dr Schütze outlined the challenges involved in the practical implementation of sewer system RTC systems. For each of the three methods used worldwide (rule-based systems, possibly with fuzzy rules, generalised hierarchical controllers, model-based predictive control), it was demonstrated how they can be created automatically and, so to speak, ‘at the touch of a button’. New methodological and programming developments in the SIMBA# simulation system now make these methods accessible to a wide range of users.
The seminar took place as part of the activities of the Mittelstand-Digital Zentrum Magdeburg, funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.
