The aim of the project was to increase the efficiency of cooling water use to reduce the amount of desalinated water and thus to reduce the consumption of fresh water. A halving of the amount of desalinated water was a realistic goal. For this purpose, innovative process concepts for salt separation from circulation water, make-up water and desalination water were developed. The ifak participated primarily as a partner partner in the development of the required models of water treatment modules, which also include aspects of life cycle assessment. The WEISS joint project is part of the WavE Research Program of the German Federal Ministry for Educa¬tion and Research (BMBF).
