Successful project completion of EmKoI4.0

The EmKoI4.0 project, funded by the Federal Ministry for Economy and Energy, ran for three exciting years until August this year. Three years full of drive and determination to provide methods and tools for researching and developing convergent communication solutions in Industry 4.0.

The closing event of the project took place with the project partners at Demag Cranes & Components GmbH in Germany. The most important results of the project's work packages were presented, along with the demonstrator, which combines all the tools and solutions of the project and impressively showcased the results of the significant collaboration with the Japanese partners.

Part of the demonstrator comprises Demag's innovative approach of attaching a robot arm to a Demag crane. The overarching goal of the project, which was to automate the process of reconfiguring industrial communication networks in order to adapt the network to the requirements of the application, was successfully implemented and demonstrated using Demag crane use cases. In this specific use case, Demag has cameras that detect people in the vicinity of the crane area as well as components to be moved. This camera transmits data via 5G, which requires the network to be properly configured. The configuration can change dynamically, which is why such reconfiguration requires an experienced person who is familiar with the network and the application. Therefore, it would be desirable to automate this process.

We would like to express our gratitude for the successful completion of the EmKoL4.0 project and greatly appreciate the cooperation of all project partners on the journey to the final result!
