The profile for field devices used in the process industry has been in some cases enhanced and improved. Hereby practical experience was regarded allowing the improvement of efficiency during the commissioning of field devices as well as to accelerate the data exchange between the field device and the commissioning tool. The functionality of the devices is defined in the form of blocks. An existing test tool for PA Version 3.1 has been developed by a third party on behalf of the PNO. This tool was improved by ifak with regard to new test cases and system adaptations. The test tool is being used by device vendors and test laboratories world wide.
