GENIUS

Generative AI for the Software Development Life Cycle

GENIUS

The rapid advances in artificial intelligence (AI) due to large language models such as ChatGPT offer great potential for German industry. Especially in the area of complex software systems, the generation of texts and programming code can significantly support and automate the manual work of software developers. However, the use of these generative AI methods in software development is still experimental and poses risks in terms of security, data privacy and reliability.

In the GENIUS project, AI models are developed on the basis of company data and tested in extensive benchmarks. On this basis, innovative solutions and tools for various industrial sectors, such as Industry 4.0, will be developed. A common framework will be created in cooperation with European partners. The main goals of the project are to significantly increase the efficiency of software development processes and to improve the quality of software products.

The GENIUS project develops customized AI models and tools that support the entire software development process - from requirements analysis to code generation and quality assurance. Helpful guidelines will be created to make the latest AI technologies usable for German companies. Some of these tools and data will be made publicly available to help standardize the new AI methods. Leveraging these technologies will not only drive economic growth, but also help address the skills shortage. Given the rapid progress in AI development worldwide, it is particularly important that German and European companies strengthen their competitiveness through independent solutions.
