AKTIV

The research initiative AKTIV intended to improve the safety of traffic in Germany. Within the project ‘Traffic Management’, ifak was active in promoting traffic and traffic research through the networking, communi­cation and co-operation of systems in vehicles with an intelligent infrastructure.

In a field test traffic light systems at intersections were equipped with communication systems developed by ifak. The system successfully exchanged traffic data between vehicles and traffic light controls. Furthermore systems developed by ifak were used in a construction site of a highway enabling the acquisition of a traffic situation and distribution of this information.
