ECOSSIAN - European Control System Security Incident Analysis Network

The protection of Critical Infrastructures (CI) like power generation, energy distribution, transport networks, water distribution or of strategic production sites for process or manufacturing industries requires approaches and solutions for detection of threats. As Critical Infrastructures depend on each other, solutions which support incident detection and management at the levels of individual CI, across CIs, and across borders are needed.

The mission of ECOSSIAN is to improve the detection and management of highly sophisticated cyber security incidents of and attacks against CIs by implementing a pan-European early warning and situational awareness framework with command and control facilities.

Within ECOSSIAN ifak is doing research and development work focussing on monitoring and detection of incidents related to industrial networks used for automation of production sites and energy distribution networks. ifak is involved in the specification of the appropriate system architecture.
