Mobile Infrastructures and Safety Technologies for Disaster Control

MobISTeK

Recent collaborative communication technologies are able to record and process information wherever we are today. With them, new possibilities of information concentration and targeted information usage emerge. However, key technologies are not utilized by rescue services or disaster control so far. Therefore the cooperation network MobISTeK (Mobile Infrastructures and Safety Technologies for Disaster Control) funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) will develop methods, components, systems and services based on networked emergency cars to support emergency personnel.

Especially emergency situations like natural disasters or multi-vehicle accidents require an active information flow and an effective decision support to save lives. Therefore the network MobISTeK aims to develop custom-fit components and systems based on up-to-date information and radio technology to derive modular concepts for refitting emergency cars from it. Furthermore, the network tries to answer open questions regarding user acceptance, safety and security as well as human-machine interaction under extreme usage conditions. As a result, the coordination of emergency cars and the rescue mission itself will be optimized to improve the emergency care especially for the German state Saxony-Anhalt.
