The topic „e-health and Telemedicine“ reaches out to explore research questions in medical engineering and Ambient Assisted Living (AAL). In this context ifak focusses on the development of concepts and IT-based solutions to increase to overall quality of life for all people, to maintain the mobility up to an old age as well as to support the activities and processes of healthcare providers. All research is done in the face of the demographic change.
Ambient Assisted Living as a relatively new field of research adresses the analysis and application of ICT for assistive systems of everyday life activities. In particular, ifak here focusses on systems for the public health service, smart home and mobility. As an example, our research projects deal with a safe and secure information management systems for vital signs, standardised software interfaces between healthcare providers and mobile communication systems for the rescue service. Also concepts and systems for barrier-free and intuitive navigation solutions to support handicapped people are developed.
