The vision of the topic Personalized Information Services is to provide personalized information to every road user according to his needs. Thereby the whole process from collecting to transferring and processing and finally to presenting the information is taken into account.
Among other things the challenges here focus:
- the fast processing and transmission of up-to-date information,
- the deal with a wide range of different data coming from various data sources,
- the optimal configuration of the information for the user,
- the optimal presentation of the information for the user,
- the best possible support for road users through the highest possible automation and
- the guarantee of highest possible security and transparency for dealing with personal information.

The focus of current projects of the topic “Personalized Information Services” lies on the use of semantic technologies for processing and preparation of traffic data. Thereby the traffic data form different sources will be set in relation according to its meaning. Out of it new knowledge can be generated through logical reasoning. Therewith it becomes possible to develop new information services, that allow an even more targeted travel planning in line with the requirements of the traveler.
