Successful master's thesis on electromobility at ifak

Mr Carlos Massimi successfully defended his master's thesis at ifak e.V. on 16 February 2023. The thesis entitled "Integration of charging infrastructure into the power grid through interaction between energy management and grid operation" received a very good result.

As part of the ELEMENT research project, model grid calculations were carried out to investigate the effect of private charging points on the low and medium voltage grid of the Magdeburg grid. It was shown that grid congestion management in conjunction with energy management systems plays an important role in minimising the load on the electricity grid.

In his work, Mr Massimi developed a concept for the interaction between the distribution grid operator and the energy management systems of the grid users for grid congestion management. Legal/regulatory framework conditions, in particular the need for secure communication via a smart meter gateway, were also taken into account.

The master's thesis was supervised by Prof. Ulrich Jumar and Christian Hübner from ifak e.V. and Christian Huth from Netze Magdeburg GmbH. We warmly congratulate Mr Massimi on this success.
