The SUSTAIN research project (IIoT Security in Material Handling and Production) has completed its final project review. At the closing event in Wetter, all partners presented the jointly developed results, which are intended to ensure that the interaction between different automation components always takes place under safe conditions in the future.
The work focused on securing networked production processes: The technologies developed collaboratively are intended to ensure that crane-, machine-, and AGV-supported processes interact reliably and securely—a central component of cybersecurity in modern manufacturing facilities.
In particular, ifak focused on the secure communication of the distributed control system DOME as well as its straightforward engineering. DOME serves as a platform for object-oriented programming of distributed automation systems.
SUSTAIN was funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) as part of the funding program “IoT Security in Smart Homes, Manufacturing, and Sensitive Infrastructures.”
