The project is aimed at the development of a national frame architecture for Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) as a strategy for the introduction of ITS in Germany. A unified approach is intended to ensure interoperability of ITS systems and subsystems to avoid isolated monolithic solutions that are difficult to extend.
The current state of the art will be described under functional, operational and organisational aspects by a detailed analysis of real existing system architectures and already developed subsystem architectures. Important terms, guidelines, standards, processes, technologies and organisational issues will be determined in this context.
The project result of lot #2 of the overall tender, elaborated by ifak, will be a reference architecture for the domain of individual car traffic information as a concrete implementation of the frame architecture. Hereby, the reference architecture lays the foundation for practical applications and for the verification of the frame architecture.
