The aim of the BMBF-funded EXPOPLAN project was to provide application-oriented software tools for wastewater treatment plant planning abroad. The dimensioning calculations for aeration plants, trickling filters, anaerobic plants, pond systems, digestion, solar sewage sludge drying and disinfection systems were taken into account. Target groups are German engineering offices, plant constructors, equipment companies and infrastructure operators of wastewater treatment plants. Basis of the software tools: The software tools are based on the DWA topic volume T4/2016 "Design of wastewater treatment plants in warm and cold climate zones", which were published for the first time in October 2016. In this volume, internationally applicable design approaches for wastewater treatment plants for foreign specific applications, including temperature ranges from 5-30 °C, are presented and explained using practical examples. Software-based implementation of the design approaches: The project results were made available in two different software tools: All design approaches are available in an extension library of SIMBA#, the most frequently used integrated simulation environment in German-speaking countries. Furthermore, an open web version was provided for users, where the individual calculation modules with the design approaches according to DWA-Themes T4/2016 can be used on a server.
