Energy and flow recycle management for the food industry

Within a joint project of the partners Ostfalia University (Campus Suderburg), LimnoTec Abwasseranlagen GmbH and FlowConcept GmbH, it has been demonstrated that the use of innovative process concepts enables the closing of the water cycle for vegetable producing plants. A biogas unit is utilised to generate energy (electric power and heating energy) with a high degree of efficiency (90% usage of biomass). ifak’s ‘Environmental Software & Control’ research group developed a mathematical model of mass-algae production as a unit process of the system. This model was integrated into a simulation system.
