The central objective of BaSys 4.2 is the further development of the BaSyx Open Source Industry 4.0 middleware with regard to the continuous engineering of production processes. It should be possible to change a production process at any time, i.e. to make unplanned changes to the final product, process or production resources efficiently. After an open industry 4.0 middleware with central components, which also includes the administration shell, has been implemented, further industry 4.0 concepts and standards of the platform industry 4.0 are to be implemented within the framework of BaSys 4.2. The research work will focus on the three topics "middleware", "capabilities" and "virtualization", as well as their holistic consideration within the framework of holistic engineering. These topics are central challenges with regard to the changeability of production in the shop floor and the continuous engineering of production processes.
The goal of the BaSys 4.2 project is to standardize the two domains manufacturing and process industry, among other things by means of generally valid models for engineering data. Furthermore, cross-line questions and modular plants as well as the necessary modular capability descriptions are addressed.
