EDGE-POWER

Energy-autonomous edge computing in the process industry

EDGE-POWER

Digitalization in the process industry is gradually leading to an increasing number of complex sensors (such as spectrometers) and extensive big data that must be processed either directly in the process or in a cloud architecture with advanced algorithms. This requires enhanced computing power as well as stable communication solutions for the connection and data transfer to cloud systems. At the same time, the use of powerful processors, extensive data storage and processing in cloud systems requires significantly more electric energy. In this context, the current EDGE-POWER project aims to develop efficient modular electronic systems that could provide power on-demand and enable an energy-autonomous operation of field devices and controls including wireless communication of mass data in large scale production plants.
