Incidents such as accidents or fires require the optimal coordination of corresponding emergency services such as fire brigade and ambulance as well as their vehicles. The aim of SIRENE is to significantly improve and secure emergency services, especially in urban areas, by means of technological optimisation. First of all, the routing of emergency services will be improved. In addition, the influencing of networked traffic signals serves to prioritize special task forces in order to request green light in time. The communication between vehicles, roadside infrastructure and traffic control centres required for such measures should include the joint use of available standards such as mobile radio and V2X (via IEEE 802.11p).
