The motto of this year's "AUTOMATION", the annual leading German congress for measurement and automation technology organised by the VDI Society for Measurement and Automation Technology, was "AI beats Automation?". In addition to many speakers from industry and research, ifak was represented with five specialist presentations on current research work in the fields of artificial intelligence, asset administration shells and communication using wireless technologies. The radio transfer tester (FTT) developed by ifak, which evaluates the performance of industrial communication systems from the perspective of the application, met with great interest among the participants. The aim of the FTT is to find out which applications can be served by the communication system under test.
The Automation Congress also celebrated an anniversary this year. We would like to congratulate "AUTOMATION" on its 25th birthday and look forward to the next Automation Congress on 1 and 2 July 2025, to which the VDI cordially invites you.
