Project launch of KEG-Locator

On July 8, 2025, the kick-off for the project Location and Condition Detection System for Beverage Kegs (KEG-Locator) took place at ifak. The KEG-Locator project is a collaboration with the Research and Teaching Institute for Brewing (VLB) in Berlin. The project will run for two years, from July 2025 to June 2027.

The goal of the collaboration is to develop a miniaturized system for locating and monitoring beverage kegs. The main innovations are mobile condition monitoring of characteristics, automatic charging for maintenance-free operation over the entire service life of the kegs, and a hygienic design necessary for the application. The ifak is identifying suitable radio, power supply, and sensor technologies for this purpose and implementing them in a functional model.
