As part of the interSim – Digital Learning through Interactive Simulation project, the workshop "Simulation in Vocational Education for Environmental Engineering – Opportunities and Practical Applications" was held at ifak in Magdeburg on 15 and 16 June 2026. We were pleased to welcome participants from vocational training centres, universities, higher education institutions and industry. Together, we explored the potential of simulation for vocational education and training and demonstrated its practical application.
The workshop focused on:
- the use of simulation in vocational education and training,
- hands-on testing of the pilot module "Pumps and Pipelines",
- practical training with the SIMBA# simulation platform, and
- discussions on practical requirements and future applications in vocational education and training.
The feedback provided by the participants was particularly valuable and will contribute to the further development of the learning modules within the interSim project. The workshop also provided an excellent opportunity for engaging discussions, an open exchange of experience and numerous suggestions for future project activities.
