Miniaturised energy self-sufficient components for reliable wireless communication in automation engineering

MIKOA

As a result of the cooperative project, wireless sensor modules have been built as key components for wireless connected modules of the industrial automation. The project focused on the reliability of the communication, the real-time behaviour and the miniaturisation of the components. As part of the project, ifak validated the solutions with the help of the Radio-Transfer-Tester for Industrial Radio Solutions (FTT). The tests focused on the relevant parameters for automation, as given by the recommendations of the VDI/VDE Guideline 2185. In order to carry out this work, the FTT has been extended conceptually to the needs of this project. Experience with the bigger networks influenced further work in the VDI/VDE committee. In addition, the revision of EN 300 328 has been analysed because of the relevance and the possible impact to the wireless solutions developed in the project. Therefore, Petri net models have been developed and medium utilisation, coexistence behaviour and spectrum efficiency have been simulated.
