Diagnosis for distributed systems of automation technology during commissioning, operation and maintenance can contribute significantly to quality assurance in miscellaneous domains of application. An advanced rule-based diagnosis of distributed systems should be facilitated within the project REDI4.0. For the first time, both behavior-based as well as structural diagnosis rules were described via a new rule notation and checked at the same time. For this purpose, concepts and methods for a performant diagnosis engine were necessary and therefore have been developed within REDI4.0. The evaluation and demonstration of the project results were put into practice through prototypical implementations and demonstrators in the domains of industrial automa¬tion and intelligent traffic systems via V2X.
