One trip - three destinations

At the beginning of the month, Dr Lisa Underberg had three appointments in Tokyo, Japan. As head of the working group "Industrial 5G in Practice", she attended the 26th Plenary Meeting of 5G on behalf of ifak, where the findings of the existing 5G-ACIA Endorsed Testbeds were reported and the new 5G-ACIA Endorsed Testbed in Aachen was launched.

This was followed by the 2nd Industrial 5G Day. The event was organised by 5G-ACIA in cooperation with the Fifth Generation Mobile Communication Promotion Forum (5GMF). It was particularly aimed at exchanging ideas with Japanese colleagues who are either interested in 5G applications or would like to promote the use of 5G technology in industry.

The trip concluded with the international kick-off meeting of our EmKoI4.0 project, whose consortium leader is ifak, with the participation of the DLR project management agency and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection. On site, the agenda included getting to know each other, demo presentations at the company NEC Corporation and the NICT (National Institute of Information and Communications Technology), technical discussions and the discussion of the next steps. We are very much looking forward to the close cooperation with the Japanese partners and the planned visit in October to Demag Cranes & Components in Wetter and to ifak in Magdeburg.
