Workshop „Introduction to Modeling and Simulation of Wastewater Treatment Plants with SIMBA” im Rahmen des Programms „Wasserbewirtschaftung im Nildelta“

On 20 October 2022, the hybrid workshop "Introduction to Modeling and Simulation of Wastewater Treatment Plants with SIMBA" was held as part of the "Nile Delta Water Management Programme" of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). The workshop was realised by the Technical University of Berlin within the framework of the project "ATLANTIS" (with funding from the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety) and the GIZ within the framework of the programme "Water Management in the Nile Delta" (with funding from the Federal Ministry for Economic Development and Cooperation) and conducted by ifak team.

During the workshop, a total of 27 participants from the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit and the water and wastewater company The Holding Company for Water and Wastewater (HCWW) from Egypt were introduced to and jointly discussed the possibilities and advantages of using simulation tools and the dynamic simulation tool "SIMBA" for the planning and operation of wastewater treatment plants. In addition to an introductory overview of the basics for modelling and simulation of wastewater treatment plants, the use of digital twins for wastewater systems was addressed in particular.
