German-Colombian workshop on water research in Bogotá

A German-Colombian workshop on urban drainage was held at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana en Bogotá/Colombia from 2 to 4 December 2019. Supported by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), ifak convened and organised this workshop. With over 30 participants from different universities across Colombia, practiticioners from water companies and public administration, this workshop discussed and identfied research needs in urban drainage and sustainable urban drainage systems. Research and practice in Colombia has ample experience with flash-flood rain events, a topic which in Germany only recently attracts deeper attention. In platform presentations and group discussions, current research and practice and future cooperations were discussed. Important input was also provided by Regina Gnirß of Kompetenzzentrum Wasser Berlin gGmbH and by MSc. Julian Reyes of Technical University of Dresden and by Catalina Vieira of ifak.
