Back again to presential meetings at ifak: Project meeting VertiKKA

After a long period due to Corona restrictions, ifak could host this week two project meetings: In accordance with the "3G" Corona-protective rules, the project partners of the VertiKKA project held a two-days meeting at ifak. Vertical climate treatment plants constitute the objective and contents of a federally funded research project (by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research), in which innovative concepts of green facades, combined with integrated photovoltaic modules, contribute to climate protection, improvement of urban climate and of energy efficiency. On 20 and 21 October, fourteen experts from the project partners from different disciplines, discussed not only the progress in the ongoing project's workpackages, but also to prepare the continuation in real-life demonstrators at different locations in Gemany.
Two of ifak's departments are involved in the VertiKKA project: Sebastian Wöckel presented the sensor concept, which had been tested in practice, and Dr Alex and Dr Schütze presented work on a simulator, which allows dynamic simulation of the VertiKKA plant, including all of its aspects (e.g., greywater treatment, plant growth, energy generation) and its impacts on the building's climate and its heat and evaporation balances. This meeeting was the first meeting of the entire VertiKKA team after more than one year and allowed intensive discussion and exchange of ideas.
