On December 11, 2024, the kick-off of the new research project “GENIUS: Generative AI for the Software Development Life Cycle” took place at Fraunhofer FOKUS in Berlin. The aim of the project is to use generative AI to increase the efficiency of software development processes and significantly improve the quality of software products.

During the event, ifak, as the German coordinator, presented the project objectives and work plan to the DLR Projektträger. The industrial partners Siemens, Akkodis, EKS InTec and Cape of Good Code presented their use cases. The technology and research partners University of Hildesheim, Fraunhofer FOKUS, ifak and IOTIQ presented their planned developments. The second day was dedicated to an intensive workshop in which all partners discussed the new AI technologies and the diverse use cases in detail.

In particular, ifak contributes its knowledge in the areas of test automation, requirements analysis and natural language processing. The focus is on the use and adaptation of Large Language Models (LLMs) for requirements analysis and test case generation. In addition, ifak develops innovative methods and open source tools for quality assurance and test documentation based on generative AI.
