ifak participates in planning and construction of green façades

On 26/27 October, the project team of the BMBF-funded research project VertiKKA2 met at Bauhaus University in Weimar. Besides the presentation and discussion of the research results obtained so far, this project meeting also served for the final arrangements for the construction and installation of a real-life prototype on a façade of one of the buildings of Bauhaus University.

The "VertiKKA" plant is a multi-functional module for green facades, characterised by irrigation by greywater, electricity generation by integrated photovoltaic modules, protection of the plants against wind,  hail and extreme temperature variations. VertiKKA represents a measure useful for climate adaptation and for increasing space and resource efficiency in urban space.

The scientific contributions of ifak to this project include the adaptation and application of the dynamic simulator developed in the first project phase (simulation of water, energy and heat fluxes) for this real-life application as well as in performing related scenario analyses.
